Had a standard Crop-a-Dile. It was good but the WR CADII Big Bite Blue is so much better.First it stands on its own, so you don’t have to struggle with holding/balancing it. Second, after you have made the hole, using the correct hole ?puncher (there are 2 choices based on the size of the grommets):• make sure you have the grommet block turned in the proper position according to the instructions (they are clear, just take a moment to read/understand them)• move the bottom SLIDER on the RULER on the bottom part of the WR CADII Big Bite Blue so that the edge of the fabric/leather/or whatever material you are using LINE UP exactly with the GROMMET block center• when your measure is right, push your GROMMET through your material according to instructions and lay it down on TOP of the GROMMET BASE on the WR CADII Big Bite Blue• check that everything is properly aligned sbd give it a solid squeeze.• you are doneThough my first Crop-a-dile did the job before I got the WR CADII Big Bite Blue, it is a LOT EASIER, and NEATER with the WR CADII Big Bite Blue.I don’t think I will use tho other one again.I strongly recommend the WR CADII Big Bite Blue!!Great for leather, making eyelet/grommet holes in jeans, hats, etc. Also perfect for punching vents in silicone lids (for microwave cooking, covering food as it cools, etc.)What really sets this apart is the long reach, and of course the leverage. Other plier-style punches work fine for narrow items like belts, etc., but if you need to punch holes in a spot further from the edge of the material, like in a hat or jeans, you need a longer reach (or to use a traditional hammer-and-anvil punch). That’s where this punch really shines. This punch requires the material to be somewhat stiff, otherwise you’ll just get a messy tear instead. So for fabrics like everyday cotton and stretchy denim:1. Fold an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper 4 times, or cut a thin sheet of cardboard into quarters.2. Place the cardboard or folded paper behind the fabric, as a stiffer backing.3. Punch a hole through both the fabric and the backing to cut a clean-edged hole.4. Make sure there’s an uncut area of the backing behind the fabric each time you punch a hole.I use it to punch holes in my wooden ornaments and door hangers. The wood is 1/4” ply and it works perfect every single time. The drill I used to use would usually make splinters around the drilled hole. With this, 99% of the time, no splintering. I love it and have recommended it to many of my crafting friends!First thing I did after struggling to get it out of the terrible bubble pack...(I thought bubble packages as such were going to be a thing of the past as more and more companies and countries choose to go GREEN) So I actually ruined a pair of scissors trying to open it. I had a razor box opener I finally turned to but was afraid it would cut through and slip too as I've had happen in the past and cut myself again. SO YES I took a star off for the terrible packaging choice here.) Most important however my tool was aligned on all three sections. I used a small bit of the uneven edge of the enclosed cardstock in the package it came with to try out the tool. It cut the large hole pefectly. It struggled a tiny bit with the smaller one but it was very thick and hard sided cardstock not the normal I will most likely be using much of the time. As a small child the class had a gift exchange for Holidays and I was gifted with these wonderful precious wild creatures of bunnies and foxes and kitten and puppies too with big fat yarn you pulled through holes all about them. They were very fragile the yarn would break at a sneeze or less. And I was so taken by the pictures that I was ultra careful and took them home without pulling the yarn through any of them until I had more quiet time to slowly and methodicially get the yarn through without breaking up in my room. However another child talked my mother out of borrowing them with her cousin for just a night. Weeks later my mother went and demanded they be returned and she came home with nothing because they had ruined all the yarn and the pictures too. I was yelled at for not taking better care of my belongings even though it was my mother who had loaned them out knowing they were very fragile having showed her how adorable they were and how easily damaged they were. So to this day I've made a few of my own version of such adorable yarns to share with children and yes adult kids alike. But this tool will make placement of the holes so much easier now and of course I use sturdy yarn today that holds up far better than that in my 50's precious gift. I also do a lot of cards and love to make tiny note pads personalized or customized for friends and family and sometimes I could use tiny grommets and holes even for binders cut to fit. I have a huge variety of binders. Wire, coil, disks, and pro-clic's I think they are called. Almost all can be cut to fit any size and so most of my machine punches are professional office ones but this will allow me to mark and punch ones without having to drag along a big machine even the smaller but still pretty big Craft versions. It won't cut the slit holes for the disk binding but everything else yes. And since it's for tiny note pads only a few holes will be needed not the 20 to 30's for full pages. So looking forward and hope this tool continues to last a long time and stay aligned. That worried me and several times I had it in my order page and then removed it because of that fear. Finally decided to take a chance and be prepared to return if it didn't line up properly. Stay safe everyone and make some fun things to share with the world. PS smile behind those masks...your eye crinkles are a dead give away that you are too smiling. See who knew crows feet would serve such a great purpose...lol. My cup is always half full and hope yours is too.Love the crop-a-dile big bite!!I make junk journals using various textiles and this has been an awesome tool to add to my arsenal of tools! Extremely easy to use, stable, sturdy.I will never use a different hole punch again. This one is so easy to use, punches through cardboard with no problem, and has a ruler for accuracy. I love it.So versatile! This hole punch is heavy duty and can go through most anything. Love it!So far I have tried 3 different suppliers for 3ml eyelets, have read that quality is important to achieve a good finish, no brand has been successful. I decided it has to be We-R-Memory keepers own brand, they don’t seem to be available in the UK in this size ( American based company ) I was prepared to go to this expense as the 1/8 (3ml ) option was my first choice for craft projects. I went to their web site, no sign of 1/8 eyelets to purchase. I subscribed hoping this will enable me to reach a customer service, waiting currently to here back. On a positive the 5ml work well, with or without washer, but expensive gadget boasting the two sizes, only one works for me. I haven’t tried the other settings for embellishments yet so cannot comment. I have watched endless U tube, and have practised lots, if any buyer of this product has some info or advice for me I would be very grateful.Am going to have to return this item as the 1/8 inch hole punch doesn't work. The larger hole punch works fine as does the rivet setter. However for the price I would expect all features to work properly. Very disappointed.I originally gave this a higher rating, as it made a big difference to me over using hammer and punch. Unfortunately, though, it's durability isn't great - I've only had it a couple months and one of the hinge pins has snapped. For £10 more I have found an industrial one of similar size and much higher quality, so this is probably a fine toy for a hobbyist that is only going to use it occasionally, but I'm disappointed in it's short lifespan given the price.I'm delighted with this. Been looking at it a long time, but couldn't spend so much on a craft tool. Finally bought it at Christmas, and really have been pleased. I bit the bullet and went for longer one, as I could see I would kick myself later, if I wasn't able to reach certain projects- this was a good decision, as I can see I use the longer capacity quite a bit. I love being able to fit studs, and hole rings, as they really finish off a project, and it punched through things, with no effort. Great buy, but it is an expensive bit of kit, but looked after properly, you'll have it for life.I have brought different ones in the past but this is the easiest and precise on yet would recommend
